Cherwell REC
Spurred on by the success of the Milton Park Area Resource Efficiency Club, the baton has now been picked up in Cherwell. The north of the county is famous worldwide as the centre of Formula One engineering but also it has a much greater concentration of manufacturing businesses than the rest of Oxfordshire: ferrous and non-ferrous foundries, coffee, chocolate, aluminium, bread etc.
The M40 was routed very close to Banbury, providing excellent access for those manufacturers to the nation’s transport network. The town has provided an ideal base for distribution and retail companies too. All of these and more are now represented in the new Cherwell Resource Efficiency Club, together with some from Kidlington.
The first session was held at Prodrive’s HQ in Banbury so the morning kicked off with an exciting tour of their facilities, which provided an opportunity to view some very famous rally cars. The high tech theme continued into the state-of-the-art conference room.
The next session is at Banbury Museum on the morning of Wednesday 12 September starting at 9.30pm. New members are welcome, just contact Karen Matthews at Cherwell District Council.
